- $7.53 depending upon experience)
Job Summary:
Under
regular supervision, executes small-scale landscaping operations and maintains
grounds of assigned areas. Coordinates
with gardeners, growers, and other technicians in preparing sites for grading
of planting soils, planting various floras, applying fertilizers, seeding and
sodding, transplanting shrubs and plants.
Position Responsibilities:
1.
Prepares
and grades specified sites for the installation of flowers, shrubs, trees,
sod/grass, etc. using manual and power-operated equipment such as a till and
pruner; applies fertilizers, seed, peat moss as required; hauls plant materials
to and from work sites, and assists with unloading trucks delivering materials.
2.
Places,
straw and mulch around the base of specified trees, plants, and shrubs to
prevent evaporation of water from soil and the freezing of roots.
3.
Removes
dead plants and debris; rakes areas clear for replanting; removes trash from
assigned area.
4.
Maintains
roads and walkways in landscaped areas by keeping mulch and other materials in
proper location.
5.
Sprays
around trees, plants, and shrubs with herbicides as directed; applies
supplemental liquids and dry nutrients to lawn and trees.
6.
Makes
routine visual inspections of flora within assigned area for pest infestation
and disease.
7.
Clears
undergrowth and prepares construction sites for the installation of plant
material, road and walkways, etc.
8.
Distributes
water manually to unirrigated planting areas.
9.
Removes
dead blooms from seasonal flowers.
10.
Cleans
and maintains water fountains.
11.
Operates
mower, weed-eater, and blower around edges of assigned turf.
12.
Assists
the shade tree technician as needed.
13.
Performs
other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education
/ Experience:
High
school diploma or equivalent required with landscape maintenance experience (or
similar); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
Must have a valid standard drivers license.
