Designated a National Historic Landmark by the Secretary of the Interior in 1978, the Jekyll Island Historic District is a 240-acre architectural museum composed of 33 structures in various stages of restoration. A master plan developed in fall 1995 serves as the guide for the further restoration and interpretation of the district. The Museum offers guided tours of the district and various educational programs pertaining to the history of Jekyll Island.
Tour schedules, information and tickets are available in the Historic District Visitors Center located on Stable Road. The Center also houses an exhibit area, a gift shop and a small auditorium. For tour information, call 912-635-4036 or 912-635-2762.
