Island Regulations

• The Jekyll Island beach is open to the public year round.  Swim at your own risk.

• The dunes form a natural buffer to protect buildings and land from tides, winds, waves, and storms.  Please help protect the dunes by using crossovers for beach access.

• A Jekyll Island ordinance prohibits the use of electronic devices for the detection of metals, minerals, and artifacts, lost articles, or for treasure hunting.

• Motor vehicles are allowed only on the paved roads.  It is illegal to drive motor vehicles in any other areas.  The island wide speed limit is 35 mph, unless posted otherwise.

• No overnight parking at public parking areas.

• Bicyclists are encouraged to ride on the paved bike trails only.  If necessary to ride on the streets, please keep to the far right and ride single file.

• Except in the campground, outdoor burning is prohibited.

• Permission for bonfires must be obtained from the Fire Department.

• Dogs are to be kept on a leash or confined to one's premises at all times.  Owners should clean up after their pets.
